This last week has been one of ups and downs. I mentioned last week, I hadn’t been feeling baby move as much, and frankly, it was starting to worry me. Well, yesterday, baby started wiggling, and I was ecstatic!
Then, I had a few days of excruciating pain from my diastasis. I used to tell people it never hurt, well, following Aspen’s birth, it began to hurt more – pulling, burning, stretching of the muscles. And this past week, I felt all of that as my weight and baby’s weight increased and my uterus tipped out. It sent me researching options.
The Tummy Team has a pregnancy class, but I knew what I really needed was some way to brace my muscles and give my belly some stability. The Tummy Team also sells pregnancy support, but I am one of those extremely uncomfortable pregnancy women, and every brace I’ve ever tried in pregnancy has eventually driven me crazy. The only one I ever liked much was this one, but it doesn’t pull my muscles together from top to bottom, it just helps hold my belly up. My doctor and I had talked last pregnancy about trying to find something that would support by entire belly, but nothing I ever found was comfortable enough for me to actually WANT to wear.
And then…
Oh, I just want to jump up and down…
Well, maybe not, but…
I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!
Now, some of you are going to wonder why I didn’t know this sooner, but there might be others of you who had no idea about this, so…
I learned how to wrap up my belly using my woven baby wrap! (Instructions for making the wrap yourself – which is what I did – are in my post on Methods of Baby Wearing).
In this video, I show you how to wrap your pregnant belly using a woven wrap!
The reason I am so excited about this method is that it is COMFORTABLE! I am hoping it stays that way as the weather gets warmer, but for now, I am thrilled!
I still find myself feeling nauseous every now and then, and sometimes food leaves a horrible taste in my mouth, but for the most part, I am back in the kitchen cooking with the kids and managing the household as well. But, I have to take a lot of breaks, and I am trying to avoid much lifting and bending over because of my diastasis.
Sleep is still pretty hit or miss. Some nights are great. Some not so much. But, it could be worse, and thankfully, the weather has been beautiful, making for some great sleeping weather.
Until next week…

I don’t have diastasis, but I learned to Moby wrap my belly during my last (fourth) pregnancy. I didn’t do it all they time, but it was a lifesaver for getting the vacuuming done or on other heavier chore days.

Praying you get relief and some sleep!

My midwife recommended that I bind or wrap with #4. I didn’t want to buy anything and drug my feet for a while. I did finally wrap with a cut strip from a bed sheet for the last two weeks or so through prodromal labor and it was so helpful. I wore it during early labor and that counter-pressure felt wonderful during contractions and helped baby line up to drop.

I’m *running* (as best as I can at 29 weeks and with a sprained ankle, lol!) to go grab my Moby and do this! Why haven’t I heard of it before? Oh, sweet relief!!!!
One question, though: How difficult is it to use the restroom with this on? Do you have to undo it and rewrap it each time? If that’s the case I’ll be having to do this every half hour I think!

I do not have to redo it. If you get it positioned right, it lasts a long time and restroom breaks are no big deal 😉

Praying blessings over you all. Thanks for the encouraging update.
