It’s no secret how much my children love audios. But, what if I could get great books in their little heads via audio that isn’t dry and boring? What if they would listen and learn rich history from a Christian worldview without realizing they just “read” a 200 page book? What if they would take what they heard and from that, build endless stories and imaginative playtime that actually connected them to history?
Now, THAT would be something!
And THAT is precisely what these Audio Adventures did for my boys!
The second we unwrapped the Heirloom Audios, my boys were captivated! In fact, I am pretty sure my 10 year old son spent every spare moment he had, listening all the way through all 4 of them, and when he wasn’t listening, he was acting them out with his brothers!
Before I tell you more about our family’s experience with these audios, I need to emphasize the fact that these CDs are artful retellings of the classic Christian historical fiction of G.A. Henty. They are NOT simple audio books – they are ADVENTURES with amazing voice talents spinning the stories inside your children’s ears and minds! They are learning REAL history from a Biblical worldview!
My 10 year old’s favorite is With Lee in Virginia. The voice talents included in that CD are Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings), Kirk Cameron (Fireproof), Brian Blessed (Star Wars), Chris Anthony (Adventures in Odyssey), & Kelsey Lansdowne (Curious George). A book that would otherwise be a bit over my boys’ heads, was brought to life via these CDs!
I am not only thrilled my children are learning real history (they listen to these audios as they go to sleep at night and in the van too!), but I am thrilled to see Christian companies stepping up to the plate and producing HIGH QUALITY products! These CDs are fantastic and they will be supplementing our homeschool adventures!
If you order the 4 CD Set, you get a ton of bonuses too:
*All 16 CDs + MP3 downloads
*Study Guides (that’s right – this counts as SCHOOL!)
*All 4 soundtracks
*Printable posters
*Collector Coins for each drama
And I have a really awesome surprise for you! If you click the Add To Cart button at the bottom of the Heirloom Audio page, there is a VERY SPECIAL price break! Think Christmas, birthdays, homeschool, vacation!
The site says ages 6-16, but my 3 & 5 year olds listen to them! And no, it’s NOT “just for boys.” It just happens that my child who can’t get enough of audios is a boy. I’ve also found that boys tend to be the ones who can easily gorge themselves on visual media – letting them listen to audios instead is a WAY BETTER alternative and engages their imaginations much better than video can.
This summer, as we jump in the van and head to the mountains, we will be bringing these CDs along with us. The kids won’t need a DVD player to entertain them. They won’t miss the beautiful scenery around them because they are staring at a screen. Best of all, they will get an EDUcation while we VACATION!
This post is sponsored by Heirloom Audio, but I never take on projects I do not fully support and believe would be of benefit to my readers.

We love these audios! My boys especially listen to them often but our whole family has enjoyed them on long van rides. They are so well done and quite captivating.

:-/ I can’t seem to find a way to purchase only the CDs or MP3s. I don’t want the whole package, it’s not within our budget, but just the audiobooks might be.

Let me contact the company and see if I can get you some help with that. 🙂
