I love these tips!
I save all of our meat bones and vegetable scraps (like onion ends and carrots peels) for stock. You can add vegetables that are starting to go bad as well. I keep a ziploc bag of scraps in the freezer. When I have a bag full, I empty it into the instant pot with water to cover and a splash of vinegar and pressure cook it for 4 hours. Then you can either use it right away, or pour it into a shallow pan and refrigerate it till the fat rises to the top. Skim the fat off if you don’t want it and freeze the stock in your mason jars. This is better than any commercial stock I have bought and is almost free.
If we have fruit that starts to go bad, I make a cobbler or jam with it. Broiling will save some disappointing fruit, we have made some very good broiled pineapple upside down cake before.
I use milk that is starting to turn in bread or muffins.
