I whole-heartedly agree with you about tests! I just want to mention though, the purpose of narration isn’t so that the parent can evaluate the child’s comprehension (although it does do that too!). The process of narration helps the child “digest” the material by requiring the mind to put in order what was heard or read and then put it into words. I’m sure there’s more that someone more experienced with Charlotte Mason than I am could add. Discussion is definitely encouraged after a narration has taken place. So that being said, I look forward to your episode on how you use discussion in your homeschool!
