I so enjoyed listening to this podcast, Amy! I’ve been reading your blog for so many years, but never heard your “how you got into homeschooling” story, and I really loved hearing your history. I identified with many of the things you said, as well.
Thank you for sharing!!

I think the only time I have ever shared it was when I first started blogging back in December of 2005! I’m not even sure that post made the move when I moved the blog in 2010. I thought it was about time I shared it again! lol

Ah, that would make sense! I don’t think I started reading your blog till about 2008. Many thanks for sharing, Amy! 🙂

Thank you for this! I listened a week or so ago but just coming back to comment. Wonderful hearing your story. Here in the UK, homeschooling is only just growing. I believe God is calling many many more Christian mums to go on this journey and already I have interested parents coming to me for advice on how to start.

My homeschooling journey started in a similar way. My husband and I decided not to send our first child to preschool to save money. She loved/loves books and, with my el ed background, I knew I could teach her preschool. From there, as my journey to Christ continued (I was an atheist until I was thirty and had a one year old), I knew I did not like how schools were teaching and how unsafe and biased they were. So, I homeschool! I have four children, ages almost seven, almost five, three and 10 months. We love Gameschooling and reading tons of books! Thanks to you I found Tapestry of Grace and Apologia, and we practice lifestyle learning. It is challenging, but I love seeing my kids learn so much.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! It is fascinating to me how different we all are and yet still so much the same. Only God!
