Caramel Apple French Toast Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf bread
  • 8 oz cream cheese, cubed
  • 2 apples, diced
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon

Maple Syrup Glaze

  • ¾ c. butter
  • ¾ c. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup

Instructions

  • Tear half of the bread loaf into bite-sized pieces and place in greased 10x15 or 9x13 casserole dish.
  • Arrange cream cheese cubes evenly on top of bread. Add apples evenly over everything. Tear remaining loaf into bite-sized pieces and sprinkle over the top of the casserole dish.
  • Beat eggs, milk, and cinnamon and pour evenly over the bread mixture. (If making ahead of time, stop here, cover, and refrigerate.)
  • To make the maple glaze, combine maple syrup, butter, and brown sugar in a small saucepan, and bring to a boil. Pour the maple glaze evenly over the top of the entire casserole, paying special attention to covering any bits of crust with the glaze.
  • Bake at 350° for 35 minutes or until done in the center.
