In a medium sized mixing bowl, stir together dry ingredients.
Add in beaten egg and milk. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until batter is smooth.
Gently stir in apples.
Drop by spoonfuls into hot fat (375°). I use a skillet, but you could use a deep fat fryer.
Fry fritters until golden brown on both sides.
Remove to paper towel lined plate and sprinkle with sugar.
