My 3 year old is a man of few words. Real words, that is. He is a man of action. He has a sound effect for everything and acts out the rest!
Recently, at a friend’s house “Super K” (as we have fondly nicknamed him) walked down the stairs and pretended to fall. He did that whole Joey Lawrence “Whoa” as his body wobbled back and forth with wildly flailing arms. Our friends bought the act and raced to catch him. Daddy and I just stood off to the side watching our little actor miraculously gain his balance and scamper on down the steps. Special effects are his forte.
It is not uncommon for these words to be heard in our home,
“Get down, K!”
“Do not hang upside-down off the couch, K!”
“Do we have to bring the cowboy hat AND the gun AND the rope to church, K?”
He just oozes boy!
Just today, I had this conversation with him:
K: Tent?
Mama: You want to make a tent?
K: (nods his head excitedly as he points to the sheet he’s pulled from the linen closet)
Mama: OK, well you have one end of the sheet on the couch. You’ll need something to hold the other end up.
K: (shoots an ever-so-subtle-wheels-turning glance at his baby brother who is sitting in the exersaucer)
Mama: No, K, you cannot use your baby brother’s head to hold the tent up!
About a year ago, he began noticing things like motorcycles, mountains, football games, and fast cars. He points wildly until we tell him,
“Yes, K, someday you can ride a motorcycle (with a helmet!),”
or,
“Yes, K, someday you can climb a mountain (with a helmet!),”
or,
“Yes, K, you can play football (with a helmet!),”
or,
“No, K, you cannot drive like that, but you can have a car like that (as long as you wear a helmet!).”
This is a child who just plain scares his mama. He’s a sweet little guy, but boy does he like adventure! I imagine when he is a man, this mama will just have to rest in the Lord as her son goes galavanting off into the jungles to spread the gospel and eat dung beetles.
This is probably just all part of God’s plan for this little boy’s life. That’s what I get for naming him a name that means “ancient and enduring protector.” Protectors must be fearless.
I’m also convinced his daddy’s special prayer for him has a lot to do with it as well:
“Even if his words are few, may they be words that glorify and honor You, Lord.”
So, this little boy is just practicing for the day when he will be required to navigate danger in order to protect the Truth. Now that’s my kind of stunt man!

Two out of my 3 boys are severely autistic. My other one is mr. creative. He loves to make up stories, write, draw etc. He’s afraid of heights lol. He’s no “stuntman” by any means. It is interesting to see what they are like as youngsters & what “runs” them so to speak. I pray he’ll follow God’s will for his life so he can use his gifts for His purpose, & not get trapped into worldly pursuits.
Your little man is adorable… All the excitement he brings you will make it worth all the gray hairs lol!

It’s true! I’ve seen this little man in action! I wonder what he’ll be when he grows up… it seems like a long ways off, but it’ll be here before ya know it. He’s getting ready for whatever it is. 🙂

We know someone like this. 🙂 He’s 6. Here’s how it goes (they were redoing their house) “No, Jo, don’t stand on that pile [of boards with nails in them][barefoot], if you fell you would have a really unpleasant hospital stay.” Jo: “I won’t fall.” Jo’s mom: “Jo…” Jo then jumps off the pile and rolls down the grass hill next to it. He then bounces up and continues fighting my little brother with their wooden swords. Boys! 🙂
