Sometimes my home feels like a zoo! There are monkeys on the furniture, alligators in the bathtub, and hyenas at the dinner table. Believe it or not, one of my family’s favorite Day-Out spots is the real zoo!

We had a picnic lunch served by a gracious 4 year old hostess.

I put it back on, but my temporary fix was just that…extremely temporary. A few rotations later, the wheel was off again and I began to envision a trip to the zoo that involved me replacing a stroller wheel every 5 steps.
I quickly realized that would make for a less than enjoyable afternoon and trotted off to rent a horribly expensive, less than baby friendly, uncomfortably hard plastic zoo stroller. While I was standing in line at the rental place lamenting what this was going to cost me and trying to figure out how to make my baby girl as comfortable as possible, my son came running up to tell me my friend Carrie had hailed down a maintenance worker who thought he could fix the stroller. Yeehaw!
I return to 2 maintenance workers drilling a hole in my stroller and putting the wheel on with a cotter pin. It worked beautifully and we spent the rest of the day playing at the zoo!

Beautiful memories! What wonderful maintenance men too. Not often will people go out of their way to help like that.
Enjoyed your post!

Amy, I love it that you have special memories with your sweet Emilie,…and I thank God for your precious baby boy.
That is neat that those men went to such depths to help you. I do thank God when people are nice.

Don’t you just love nice people who go out of their way to help!? I do.
Looks like you had a fun day yesterday. We’ve been dying to go to the zoo. We haven’t been in about a month. We tried to go during spring break, but my goodness the line was a mile long (seriously) so we went to Sedgwick Country Park right by the zoo and had a great time. I even blogged about it! 🙂
Thanks for joining us Amy! It was fun having you.

PS I love the picture of sweet Emily.

How wonderful. I love the pics. and I noticed you have the colored set of dishes. We do that too. A friend of mine has the same color everything. Whoever has the pink dishes has pink bath towels, pink toothbrush, pink sheets and blankets, everything pink. Always easy to find the guilty party when things are left around!!

That is SO ironic!
We took our DD to Disneyland when she was 4 months old, and the wheel came of her stroller…and we fixed it with a ‘bobby pin!’
It looks like you had a lovely time at the zoo! (and what a helpful little hostess you have!) 😉
Blessings,
Michelle
