I remember being a little girl and stealing away to the formal living room to play with the ceramic nativity and sing Christmas hymns to myself. The shepherds would climb hills resembling our antique clock, the wise men would trek across the wooden top of the bureau, and baby Jesus would bask in the rays of the corner lamp. It was serene.
Many years ago my sister bought the children (which numbered 2 at that time) a Playmobil Nativity Set
. Endless hours have been spent playing with this set. But, one thing never fails to occur.
At some point in time every single nativity set I own will be rearranged with every single figure focused solely on baby Jesus.
The way it should be.
We busily arrange our nativities to look “good” for the outside world. The figurines are just barely turned in toward Baby Jesus because we want visitors to be able to tell who these figurines represent. We don’t want people to miss their finely crafted garments and beautifully painted faces.
After all, Tis the Season!
But children know better.
Oh to be like children without the need to look “good.” To not only KNOW Christ’s proper place in this season, but to PRACTICE that knowledge.
Lord, humble me to a childlike state where my full focus is on the baby in the manger who will grow to be the Light for all men. Amen.
Merry CHRISTmas!

We have that same Playmobile nativity set and the kids LOVE it! The little boys rearrange it several times and day and we talk about the meaning behind the pieces. Merry Christmas, my friend. Blessings! Lisa~

It reminds me my childhood when I played around whit my grand mother’s nativity. I used to pretend I was little Jesus while playing with the figures.
I would love to have this playmobile nativity for the next holidays. Now I am late to get one of those. Thanks for sharing and have a Merry Christmas. Let your wishes come true in these holidays.
