Maybe it’s because I just had a scrumptious little baby. Maybe it’s because I feel eternally behind right now. Maybe it’s because I’m not quite to the point of having a well-ordered day. Whatever the reason, I feel as though I am missing out on my favorite season of the year.
This is the time of year I wish everything would slow down so I could just drink it in, one apple-cider sip at a time. It’s the time of year I want my whole world to smell of cinnamon and wood smoke. I want everything to be painted red and orange and yellow and brown. I want to just sit on my porch swing and breathe in the crispness of the season.
But, for some reason I am missing it. For one, October is turning out to be a rather busy month for my husband. And of course, Garin isn’t really old enough to be out and about much yet. And honestly, I still have a killer back ache if I stand for too long. But in an attempt to not let the entire season pass me by, I made an Enjoy List.
It’s just a simple To-Do list that doesn’t involve anything that even resembles work. Things like:
Sit outside, wrapped in a blanket, sipping cider
and
Read The Pumpkin Patch Parable
to my children
I want to make a blessing tree again this year. I want to take a nature walk with the children. I want to make caramel apples and fried apples and apple pie.
Perhaps I won’t get to everything on my Enjoy List, but that’s not really the point. The point is that sometimes we get busy…too busy. We forget to do even the simplest things…the things that make the most lasting memories. That’s what the Enjoy List is all about. Making memories.

It is finally starting to cool down in southeastern Georgia, so I am hoping to do some outside things with the kids. I so love the many colors of fall. I can wait to build a fire in the fireplace and stuggle up on the couch to listen to the sounds.
By the way, Garin is just too adorable for words. He has those kissin’ cheeks. :o)

Hi Amy
Your baby is adorable! It? spring over here in Australia, but I understand your feelings because thats how I feel in our Autumn – like everything should be autumnish!
I looked at your blessing tree link – what an easy & wonderful idea. I going to give it a go with my family.
Take care & enjoy this time with your sweet bub & gorgeous family

Great to hear from you, Amy! Garin is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your ideas. You are definitely not the only one who feels like the season is moving to fast to keep up with! (I think that is grammatically incorrect but I can’t figure out what to do with the “with”? 🙂 Blessings to you!

What a simple and absolutely FABULOUS post! 😀 ~ I love it when I read something, and not only ENJOY reading it… but also get INSPIRED by it! Thank you for doing that! I will now go and write a sweet little “enjoy” list. 🙂 LIFE SHOULD BE ENJOYED!
PS I might have to add to my list, “find a baby and kiss it.” ;D Lucky you to have one so available! 😀

Gosh he’s cute!!
Ya know, besides roasting our pumpkin so I can make some pumpkin puree for some yuuuuummy special treats … I think we’ll make up our blessing “tree”. Last year, I cut out leaf shapes and we all wrote things we were thankful for … but we didn’t tape them to a tree like you did. We taped ours to a Cross I made from construction paper. 🙂

Our sons wore this same outfit! Isn’t that the softest material ever? It was one of their outfits that was actually new to us (as opposed to stuff from Goodwill) and even though our youngest is almost 3, I still remember how soft this cute little outfit was. 🙂
