Thanks Amy. I have followed you for a while so I’ve read your posts on the different planning methods you’ve used. But it was nice to have them all discussed in one podcast with good resource links. You have such a pleasant voice and manner to listen to. I appreciate the time and commitment you put into these podcasts. Thank you!

Wow, I got so much more out of this podcast than I was expecting! I love planning, but sometimes spend too much time planning and not enough time doing. I attended a homeschool convention last week, and had wanted to attend a scheduling workshop, but noisy baby made that difficult. Your advice here was much more applicable to where I am at. I love your advice about planning on the fly, be flexible with Dad’s flexible schedule, and the fact that a pretty planner doesn’t make you better at planning.

Oh, I am so glad you got so much out of this! Happy planning!

Planning is not my problem. It’s keeping on top of the older ones. What’s your strategy?
Amy says
Definitely going to talk about this in an upcoming podcast. I am also in the middle of writing an ebook on raising independent learners because this is your key. Give them the tools, let them go, check in on them periodically. They have to “own” their work and see the merit in it.

Just a thought, but if you have any advice for a mom with a student who wants to be independent but isn’t quite ready for it that would make a great chapter to your ebook. I have a student who wants to do everything himself and because of either his dyslexia or the fact that he is a 12 year old boy there are a lot of details that slip through the cracks if I am not sitting beside him. Still, he is constantly pushing me away telling me that he can do it himself.

On of the reasons i love coming back to your blog is that you never present a method as “The Way.” I appreciate how you illustrate how different methods have worked for you at different times. Thank you for all your encouragement!
