So, tell me…
What is it you want to know?
Take a gander at my Homeschooling Mother page and then come back here and leave me a comment or question telling me what you’d like to know about our homeschool, what you’d like to see more of here, and what I could do to the Homeschooling Mother page to make it more user-friendly.
I’d love to talk more about homeschooling, but kind of feel lost about where to begin. Help me out here! Thanks!

I don’t think I had ever visited your Homeschooling Mother page before. It’s very impressive! I think one of my biggest fears as my oldest closes in on the preschool age is how to know if I’m teaching the right thing and enough of it. Also, with as many curriculums as there are out there, how do you ever decide which one is right?
Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

I just want to say that I am thrilled to have found you here. I am beginning our homeschool journey and I am soooo clueless! Your homeschool mother page seems to have answers to all the questions that I have about it but I will certainly be asking if I come up with any other questions. I haven’t had time to read any of the pages or posts yet because, well because I have a 6 month old, 2 year old, 3 year old and a 4 year old thats why! I will though, I have to! My hubby is sooo clueless aout homeschool too and we have got to get educated about how to educate! This seems to be a great place to start.
I imagine that this blog takes a pretty good amount of time and I am just thankful that you take that time. People like me would be lost without people like you, I mean it becuase up until about a year ago I didn’t even know what a blog was and boy was I lost. I felt like I lived on a deserted island, worse I felt like I lived on an island without a single like minded woman! (okay there is a 1 or two like minded women locally) Anyway, from one Amy to another, thanks 🙂

Hi Amy,
I haven’t even begun to homeschool yet (my baby is 6 mos old) but my husband and I have felt a strong conviction to homeschool her. I see all the different homeschooling books, etc. out there and it is so intimidating, I don’t even know how to begin. The task is so daunting and something I don’t feel I am qualified to do. However, I’m not one for telling God “no” so I figured I would start preparing early.
My biggest question is “How do I begin?” What is the very first thing that you did when you started this process. With so much to choose from, I can’t seem to focus on any one thing.
Your Homeschooling Mother page seems to have some wonderful things on it and I will probably be spending many hours on that page. I just thought I’d ask my question upfront. I know we don’t know each other personally. I did, however, want to thank you for being such an encouragement and a witness to me through your words. God bless you and your family!

I know what you mean. I don’t write much about home schooling anymore. I have recently thought that I need to write more – I’d like to write more – about home schooling, but I don’t know where to really begin. Home schooling is so infused into our lives that it is just life. I feel like my home school posts are either just informational or just family posts.
I have had people ask specific questions I can answer, but I had a young lady ask me to tell her about home schooling, and I needed a little deeper explanation of what she was looking for.
I also love the home schooling posts with all the photos, but I just don’t really get many photos taken and edited enough to do that. Amanda sure is great about that though. I should assign her as our home school photographer, shouldn’t I?
🙂
Anyway, I love your posts. I always find them fresh and informational.
blessings and Shalom

Thanks for the link to that page! I’ve never seen it on here before. I’m just starting out and looking for preschool info to get some minimal practice before the real deal. I may be back for questions once I can spend some time “roaming.”

This is has nothing to do about homeschooling, I just have been so busy taking care of sick kids I have had no time to read blogs and am just not reading you are expecting. I found out about a week ago that I am expecting our 8th child. While I would of wanted the Lord to wait a bit to bless us again I am very happy. I would love to talk with you more. you can visit my blog.

This is my 2nd year to homeschool…I have an older child in public middle school and going through the “system” with her ensures me that I am doing the right thing with homeschooling my other 3…anyways, saying that…I love the fact that I am their teacher but I was a child who loved most of my teachers and it’s hard to let go of that feeling that the kids are missing out on learning from other people by almost always being in my care…There is guilt that comes from me not knowing all things. Thank goodness for the Internet! haha! 🙂 Do you ever feel this way? How do I get past this “mommy guilt” in this area? Love, love, love your blog! ~DIANA

Great questions! Gives me something to chew on a place to start! I’ll be slowly answering these and others as the weeks progress…

Hrmm, question about homeschooling . . . I’m a low-energy person and often don’t feel well due to various challenges, and I wonder how mothers get through homeschooling when they don’t feel well. We’re hoping to someday have a quiverful, but right now we just have one with a second on the way, and I’m wondering how that homeschooling is going to work out on my “weak” days. Is that a question, exactly? –SleepyKnitter

I’ve read your posts off and on for maybe a year now. I’ve been homeschooling about as long as you and was looking at your homeschool page for new spelling ideas. I was impressed by the SpellQuizzer, and got the free trial, but then just a couple days ago found this totally free one http://www.spellingcity.com my kids are hooked! I like reading about your thoughts on Sonlight. It may be a possibility for us next year, so all the info is very helpful. One question for you, this time of year my kids kind of take their good ol’ time finishing their assignments — how do you motivate your children to work at a good speed so it doesn’t take ALL DAY LONG?! I have tried it all and am open to suggestions please! My kids are 12, 9, 7 and 2. Also, Congratulations on your growing family! So excited for you! 🙂

You are such a wonderful woman to pour your knowledge and experience into the blog-world to help others along in their journey. I am a couple of years away from homeschooling and know that I am called to homeschool. However, my oldest who just turned 3 is VERY strong-willed and often times I think that he might take teaching and direction better from other people as opposed to me. Is that just a lie I should avoid or could there be something to it? I also deal with a little guilt about keeping him home just because I see how much fun he has with other kids when he is in a classroom environment. Deep down I know that it doesn’t replace the value of having him home building relationships with mom, dad, and siblings but it still feels like he would be missing *something* I think I already read this above but I would like to second it…what are a couple of things I could be doing now to get ready for homeschooling since it will be a couple of years before we officially start. And/or, are there cirriculums for 3 year olds just to prepare them? Thank you again so much for your time, wisdom, and willingness to help others.

I am at this plunging in stage also. We will be starting our 5th grader next school year. I think we are going to wait and allow our 1st grader to have one more year of public school. He is very social and competitive and really at this stage needs the people and children around him to thrive. And out 3 yr old will start some preschool fun stuff at home. My question is… How to handle and what to say when many people including family are against your decision? I would love to have a list that describes verses in the Bible and common ideas why most families homeschool. I seem to loose my train of thought when defending myself when talking to others.
