With cooler temps coming, I’ve had food on the brain. Not so great for my weight loss efforts, but it is definitely teaching me a few things. I thought I’d just extend that food-on-the-brainess to this week’s link up, so….
Let’s kick things off with the quintessential comfort food: Chicken Pot Pie
This recipe comes from Haley at Little Bits. With my size of family, we do pot pie family-style, but this would be a great recipe for a smaller family or to take to someone who needs a meal or even to freeze (she has instructions for that!).
Stacy over at Stacy Makes Cents has a Crock Pot Beenie Weenies recipe that is a healthy makeover of a old-time favorite. I’m not a fan of beenie weenies, but my kids would love this!
Sonja at Practical Stewardship has a recipe for Crock Pot Parmesan Zucchini Turkey Meatballs.
These looks so yummy! And I have a whole bunch of zucchini shredded and in my freezer just waiting for meals like this!

Real quick interjection…I bought another crock pot! I am so glad I did! We went with another 7 qt oval similar to THIS ONE:
I’ve been pinning slow cooker recipes to a new Pinterest board so I don’t mix them up with my regular recipes. You can see it here, but remember, it is a work in progress…
Our final recipe is for all my Trim Healthy Mamas out there…
Chocolate Waffles from Mommynificent! These waffles are grain free and sugar free and are based off of the Muffin in a Mug concept.
I also want to share a post that stood out to me and I didn’t want you to miss it: Modesty is For Boys Too from Olive Plants & Cornerstones. This is one of those issues that rarely gets addressed and thus, ends up setting a double standard…one for our girls and one for our boys. We DO need to address modesty with our boys. You may not come to the same conclusions as this blogger, but please put some thought into it and set some standards for your boys.
And finally, the post that received the most clicks last week was from Lori at Always Learning: If Mamas are Home, Who Will Be Nurses. As with any post of this nature, the comments are worth reading too!
Time to link up your posts and read other wonderful posts! {If you are reading via email, click here.}

Hi Amy! Thanks so much for featuring my Parmesan Turkey Zucchini Meatballs. And I love having multiple crock-pots! I often have granola in one, broth in another, and dinner in another. They reduce stress in my life!! And that’s so helpful so we can focus on our kids, husband, home, and most importantly the Lord, right? Blessings!

What a great idea Sonja! I never thought about having multiple crock pots. Probably because I have such tiny counter space, but I could see how it helps you. 🙂
Sonja @ practical-stewardship.com says
I do store 2 crocks (a 6 qt. and a 4.5 qt.) on my counter and then the rest in the garage (a 7 qt., 2-2 qts. and 2 Little Dippers that came with other crock-pots we bought). I know we are crock-pot crazy!

Thanks for featuring me Amy! Hope I don’t ruffle too many feathers. ;/ Anyway, I didn’t know that they have slow cookers that big! I think mine is 5 or 6 quarts.

I’ve found some that are 8qt, but I didn’t really like the brand, so I went with the 7qt. It has been so nice for our size of family! And a second one is nice to have for doing things like baked potatoes or corn on the cob as sides.

Thanks so much for featuring my waffles! I am honored. Looking forward to seeing what everybody shares this week! Thanks for hosting!

Oh come on, Amy. You’re not a fan of Beenie Weenies? Girl – it doesn’t need the broil setting!

I seriously do not like beans. Doesn’t matter how you cook ’em. 😉

Perhaps I’m the only one, but I have *never* heard of beenie weenies before! Though I like beans, so I may have to try this one out on the family 🙂
