Did you see yesterday’s title?
“Does Your Children Enjoy Tactile Learning?”
Does
Your
CHILDREN???
Brainlessness and grammatical errors are pregnancy symptoms. Really, they are!
So, today I apologize for misuse of the English language, lack of answering emails and phone calls, abrupt disappearances, dropping the ball, and anything else I might have done (or not done) while the couch held me captive.
What can I say? I’m growing another human being!
A little more about my week:
- I realized I’ve never taken my anemia seriously and I asked the Lord to forgive me of my nonchalant attitude and got serious. I am feeling much better already.
- Wednesday and Thursday of this week I felt like a normal human being! I cooked, I cleaned, I organized. It was amazing!
- My 11 year old daughter has really stepped up in the cooking department, so now that I am back in the kitchen, I’ve got her at my side and it is so much fun! She’s had a big boost of confidence being able to try her hand at feeding the family.
- My 14 year old wasn’t here this week. He’s a huge help around the house and just a joy to be around, so his time at camp was felt big time around here. The whole family was definitely ready to see him again! Makes me wonder what will happen when he’s out of the house for real. The ebb and flow of family life. *sigh*
- I am eating foods I NEVER eat. It is rather bizarre to put mushy foods in my mouth and actually like them. I really do not like anything mushy due to my sensory issues, but yesterday I ate a plain old mushed up avocado and today I had refried beans. My husband just stared at me.
- I like the taste of Floradix. It reminds me of elderberry without the kick and I actually find myself wondering if I could have some more!
- My husband is amazing! So, I already knew this one, but this pregnancy he’s had to go out and buy me a lot of things just to keep me going. Between prescriptions, trips to the health food store, strange foods and drinks, and a host of other things, I have never once heard him complain about my weirdness. He’s a keeper, folks!

I Love you, I saw that…and I smiled….because I make mistakes like that all of the time….and I thought nothing about it…..
Cindy says
I guess if you like the taste of those things, you must really need them! Get better, and don’t worry about the typo. I thought it was funny, because I KNOW you are a grammar whiz. 🙂
Amy says
The really funny part is, until you and another reader mentioned it, I couldn’t even see it! lol
Blair @ The Straightened Path says
LOL. This is why we loves you. 🙂
Andrea says
This made me laugh out loud on so many levels! I feel your pain as I am sure many of your readers do. Thank you for your honesty – other women need to know that perfection isn’t real! “Pregnancy brain” and “new Mommy brain” and “breasf-feeding brain” are all three VERY real. The highly paid professionals just haven’t caught wind of it yet! Don’t you love it when you make grammatical errors like “Children” and then have to think “oh, and yes I do homeschool.”
Amy says
Yes, and then I think, “this may come back to bite me!” lol
Anna says
I’m right there with you. I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with our 8th and I am TIRED! I could sleep all day. The other night I told my poor hubby at 7pm, “I’m just going to rest for a little bit”. I slept until 6:30 the next morning! Thanks for being real.
Amy says
I’ve been sleeping like a log too. Relish it. 😉
Megan says
Oh Amy, bless your heart! I read the post yesterday and didn’t even notice the typo – don’t feel like you have to apologize!! I wish I lived close (and knew you.. ha ha) and could come help you out. Glad you’re feeling a little better and hope it continues as you get further into the 2nd trimester. God bless you today!!
Amy says
Aww, thanks! My Megan has been taking good care of me. 🙂
Michele says
I am giggling…not at you, with you! ;). Saw that yesterday and thought, it must be a bad day for Amy! Hang in there and keep smiling. Grammar is important, but not as important as growing babies! 😉
Emily Dykstra says
Oh, this post made me laugh! Because I can relate! The tiredness, brainlessness, and even the amazing husband part 🙂 Praise the Lord! He won’t give you more than you can handle!
StacyA says
feelin your pain friend 🙂 My goodness I’m a feather-brain this time around (probably all the times, just can’t remember right now!) I have driven on the wrong side of the street, forgotten to return calls, wasted more tea leaving it steeping for HOURS, and left the gas cap off when I filled up the van, among many other things. All I can do is laugh and apologize. So glad your anemia is getting better.
Misty Heitman says
Just to let you know that I pay attention to grammar things too, but I totally missed that! 😉 LOL! Mommy Brains!!!! I tend to write in how I speak, and it is not always grammatically correct. Love the honesty!!

As a mom who has suffered with SEVERE anemia, I can relate! My tenth pregnancy, my hemoglobin was 5.5. Had to see a hematologist.
When they got my blood up to 13.9, I told my hubby I felt like Super Woman!! I could literally go from sun up to sundown day after day. It was awesome!!
Watch that anemia, because it can make a HUGE difference in all aspects of life, not just energy levels.
Amy says
Wow – 5.5! I’ve never been that low. I saw a hematologist with my 6th because I was getting close to the end and at a 7. We got to a 10 before delivery which is pretty good for me. I am trying to do even better this time. 🙂
Coby says
So how do you explain the fact that the other day I said, “I getted” instead of “I got”? I don’t THINK I’m pregnant! 😉 FYI, I didn’t even notice the typo in your last post – and I used to be an English teacher! Yikes!!!
I’m glad to hear you had a couple of days of feeling normal! Praise God for those couple of days!
Crafty Mama says
LOL I’m glad you noticed, ‘cuz I wasn’t gonna say anything! (<–Editor :P) Glad you're feeling better! I think it's been "one of those weeks" for a lot of us.
Teresa says
Didn’t notice it:) I found I was a accident waiting to happen. I opened doors into my head, walked into doors, and tripping. My husband was not sure I was going to make it.
Amy says
I turn into butterfingers when I’m pregnant and bump into things too. So weird! lol
Sheri says
Can I just say thank you for praising your 14 yr old son? It is so uncommon to see nowadays so it was refreshing! I *heart* my teens (and psstt, being a mama to an adult is pretty amazing too, and don’t worry, the ‘connection’ with the sibling(s) still grow too). =)

Amy says
Sheri,
It breaks my heart when I hear parents bash their teens or say to me, “just you wait until they are teenagers.” My teenager is awesome (as are the rest of my kiddos! lol)
Lisa Maria says
Hi Amy, I’ve been so out of it myself that I didn’t even realize that you were expecting again! We’ve sort of been on a roller coaster ourselves for weeks with my mother in law dying after a couple of months of being bed-ridden with cancer. Lo and behold a few days after her funeral, I discover that I’m pregnant again! Talk about spinning on a wild merry go round! I’m currently about to start my 12th week so I truly empathize with you…my preggo brain is completely mushy and my hormones are wacked. This is also a high-risk pregnancy (it will be my 5th c-section) Praying for you and I both to get through this safely with healthy babes! God bless!
