As I enter week 39, I’m feeling more contractions and definitely feeling ready to give birth. I’ve had some really good days and some really restless nights. They sort of even each other out.
While I don’t ever anticipate a small baby, I do hope this little one is a bit smaller than last time and bit more on time than last time. I haven’t gained any weight in a month, so I don’t know if that is any indicator that baby might not be putting on as much weight as in the past. Here’s a little run down of gestational age and weight for my babies:
- Baby #1 – 40w – 8# 15 oz
- Baby #2 – induced at 38w4d – 7# 7oz
- Baby #3 – 39w5d – 9# 14 oz
- Baby #4 – 40w1d – 10#
- Baby #5 – 40w2d – 10# 2oz
- Baby #6 – induced at 40w6 – 10# 6oz
- Baby #7 – 41w5d – 11#
Often, people will have a date in mind that has meaning to them or is a date that just sounds good for having a baby. For me, it is January 17th. That would have been my Grandpa’s birthday. I think that would be a wonderful day for this little one to be born and honor Grandpa.
I’m still working on a hospital bag and logistical details for the kiddos (where will they stay, who will bring them to the hospital, etc.) It seems so strange to say I am due next week. Surreal is probably a good word for it. It’s a waiting game from here on out. Every birth is different and I am anxious to find out this little one’s birth story!

Amy, you look absolutely beautiful! I’m sure you’re tired but you honestly just look radiant! I’m so excited for you and can’t stop checking your website! I am praying for you, for a quick, easy birth! Thank you so much for being yourself- we have 5 kids the same ages as your older 5 and I always appreciate you not painting a picture of your life that is not true to impress your readers. I love homeschooling and most of the time feel on top of my rold as being a wife, homeschoooling mom, homemaker, etc, but I do have my days and your honesty is so treasured by us all! 🙂
Anxiously awaiting…. 🙂

You look great! I understand about hoping baby will be smaller. I am due with number 5 in May. My children have all gotten progressively bigger, and #4 was 10 lbs 6 oz. It would not hurt my feelings if this baby is just a bit smaller – a 9 lber sounds delightful 😉 That said, I didn’t have any problems delivering him, I just had a lot of hip pain after, so my doctor has told me I would probably fine with a 12lber. But I hope I don’t get to find out!
Amy says
Yeah, I don’t seem to have any issue delivering huge babies, but they sure don’t seem like babies when they are so big! lol
jackie says
haha! i’ve also been hoping for a little 9lber too! my last 10.6 also…any day now we’ll find out!
Evie says
Oh My. You are about there! I am a bit jealous! 🙂 Praying for your little one to arrive quickly and healthy! the 17th would be a neat day for you! I am not due until the 15th of Feb, but feel and look like I am ready to deliver today!!! I thought my babies were big! And my largest was 9# even!!! You look absolutely beautiful!!!!
elisa says
wow, you are almost there. I’m 35 weeks pregnant for the first time, any suggestions for what to actually pack to bring to the hospital? I figure you are a pro by now! 🙂
Amy says
I’m planning on trying to do a post on what I pack before I actually go into labor. 🙂

Isn’t it amazing how God’s design for us was such that we would have progressively bigger babies? I believe he prepares the body to have that perfect function!
I don’t know if your doing homebirth or hospital birth, but if you are in the hospital, don’t let ANYONE tell you that your baby is too big. Hush them up and pooh pooh that right down. I know a dear woman, a wife of one of the greatest pillars of faith I ever knew who gave birth to a 13 lb baby naturally and easily. She is in her 80s now.
Childbirth is such a beautiful time. Praying you have a great delivery, and that it comes soon! We are hopeful to have a delivery in 7 months. Thanks again for your post on HG, I have been sharing with other Christian ladies with HG.

Wow all my babies with the exceptionof my oldest who were 7 lbs the rest were 5/6lbs with the last being 4/4lbs 4ozs. It looks like from your history you probably have another week good luck and can not wait for the details. Take it easy.

Amy,
I have been following your journey and cannot Thank You enough for all you put out there! I too an due in right around the corner. I have no clue how I’m going to do this! I am homeschooling my 5 year old, trying to enetatain my 27 month old, and I’m due in two weeks. I’m starting to freak out about school. I will be nursing full time like I have in the past (Lord willing), and I remember how much time that takes up in a day. My house is loved, not perfect but laundry and dishes do pile up. I’m scared at failing my oldest with teaching him or not being able to. My second son, I feel guilty that he doesn’t get enough mommy time period! Do you have anything to ease my mind?! I’m sure this is the last thing you want to even think about at the stage you are in! I understand! My hospital bag is not done, the spot for baby in our room is not cleared out, the bassinet is at my moms till she brings it here ( she lives and hour and a half away), my husband is shift work and laid up sick right now when he is home! I just feel like Satin is getting exactly what he wants… fear, worries, doubt and chaos.
Well, I will continue to pray for you and your family! Thank you again for taking time from your busy life to be an open book to us all. <3

Be looking for a series on homeschooling with a newborn. 😉

I just started following your blog several months ago and I’ve been so blessed. I’m super excited to see your family grow! Each of my babies has cooked a little longer than the previous one and ended up bigger for it. Baby 3 just came last month a good pound and inch bigger! However, hopefully this one for you won’t exceed 11#s. Do you post your birth stories? If so, I look forward to reading this one! Praying for you and your family as God blesses you again!
Amy says
Typically, I do post their birth stories. 🙂

Excited for you!!! Can’t wait to know the gender! God bless you!

I’m at 32 weeks and my last baby was 10lbs 7oz. I’m hoping for a smaller baby too! I’ve read that the older you get, the more sugar gets passed to the baby because your metabolism changes. I’m trying to stay away from sweets, but it’s been hard having just gone through Christmas!
You look great, by the way!
Tamshac says
Amy, you look really good! God bless you and your family and I hope that everything goes well!

Thank you Jesus for a full term baby! “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.” 2 Thes. 3:16
Can’t wait to see who this little one is!….. and I can’t help but look forward to seeing if you post, “What I have packed and ready to take to the hospital” or “What I packed and already used at the hospital”!!! Ha! 🙂
Amy says
Yes, sadly, it often takes me going into full fledged labor to actually decide to pack a bag! lol
Angela England says
((hugs)) God does an amazing job picking birthdays. Congrats on your pending birth – I can’t wait to hear your birth story!!
Stacie @ No Idle Bread says
Wow!!! My biggest baby (#4) was 8lbs 8oz. I just went to my OB last week and she says this baby (#5) is on track to be about that size, too. 🙂 Babies 1-3 were either just under or just over 7lbs.
Well, Amy, I do hope and pray that your labor and delivery go well and smoothly!!
God bless you and baby!
