Over a year ago I started work on an ebook devotional for grieving families based on the Psalms. I finally finished it, but it needs a lot of editing and tweaking before I am ready for it to be released. If any of you feel led to do so, I’d ask that you please pray for this project. The book will be entirely free and offered here in the sidebar of Raising Arrows for anyone who wants it for themselves or for a friend.
This has not been an easy thing. I have cried through much of its writing. But, I feel it is an important thing to do because reading through the Psalms meant so much to me in the early days following Emily’s death. Grieving families, no matter if they are grieving a parent or a child or a spouse, find themselves fighting through so many different emotions. Those emotions are all so clearly revealed in Psalms, laid wide open for the grieving person to find solace in.
So, pray with me if you would. Thank you so much.

I am so sorry for your great loss, and so happy that you are turning this situation into such a blessing for so many. Thank you! You and your sacred project are in my prayers.
PS Though I realize that the loss of a mother in law who lived a long life is much different than the loss of a young child… And yet, there are similarities when the bond is very close. Therefore, I feel your pain on some small level. I too received comfort and solace in my separation. You can read about it via the following link if you want to.

I want this ebook to be able to minister to anyone who is grieving and not just the grieving mother (although I know her best), so I do truly appreciate what you said here. 🙂 I lost my dad the year before Emmy, so I had that in mind too as I wrote.

Hi! If you’d like someone to proofread/edit your devotional, I’d be happy to help. I’ve been reading your blog for about six months now. Oh, and qualifications… a Master of Arts in English with various editing experiences. Let me know if you’d like any assistance!
Amy says
Thank you so much, Steph. I’ll keep you in mind. I do have another proofreader on board, but it’s always good to have several sets of eyes!

It says so much about you that you would offer this for free! I just love ya, Amy!
I will pray with you on this project. I’ve been looking for items/people to add to my weekly prayer rotation.

Knowing a grieving mother’s heart, I know this book will bless many. When I lost my daughter, my greatest comfort came from Holy Scripture. The emotions displayed and the words in print gave me reason to know how much he loves us and is very present in our sufferings.
Praying for you and this project. From what little experience I have in writing, it’s the hardest part!

Let me know if I can help edit it (for free!). Pre-babies, I was a newspaper reporter and editor. I’m not the strongest copy editor but I’ll do my best, if you’d like!
Kimberly @ Raising Olives says
Praying my sweet friend. Thank you for being willing to share what God has shown you.

So brave of you. After losing my parents, sometimes I would sit for hours late at night when I couldn’t sleep just readying page after page…suffering or rejoicing as the Words lead me. YOU and this project are in my prayers.

I look forward to reading through this. The Psalms have always been THE scriptures that have encouraged me most during times of grief. In fact, I had a time going back to them later because they reminded me of my sorrow for a while – but I’m okay there now. 🙂
I’m sure this will be a great source of encouragement for many and I think it’s wonderful that it was a labor of love that you are offering free.
May God richly bless you for your service to him.
Love,
Lynnette

Your devotion, given to me by a friend, has been such an encouragement! It so nice to have real thoughts pulled from the scriptures like you have in this devotion. Thank you so much for writing it!
