Make this yummy, frozen treat in the summer when you need something icy to cool off with or in the winter when your taste buds are craving fruit.

Several summers ago, I suddenly had a memory pop up in my mind – my mom making frozen fruit cups in the middle of summer. I remember the fruity goodness and how I would scrape around on the top of the frozen treat, my mouth watering for the next icy bite.

It was a core summer memory for me, and I wanted to share that memory with my children!
It took me a few years to find the original recipe from my childhood, but finally, in a Centennial Cookbook from my hometown, there is was – Fruit Slush in the beverage section sandwiched between Egg Nog and Spice Tea.
Hallelujah!
But…there was a weird ingredient…”apricot nectar.” What is that?!
Well, apparently, this is it…
And I couldn’t find it in the store, so now what?!
Then, one day I was at the scratch and dent store, and there were cans of Jumex Strawberry Nectar and Peach Nectar and I thought to myself…that will work!
So, I snagged several cans at a great price and brought them home to show my family and excitedly told them about how I was going to introduce them to these lovely frozen fruit treats from my childhood!
The good thing about this recipe is that it is VERY FORGIVING! You really can’t mess it up and any combination of fruit and juice is delightful, so don’t be afraid to experiment!
However, there is one ingredient that is a MUST…

CLEAR PLASTIC CUPS!
I know, I know…any old plastic cup will do, but my mama put them in clear cups and my family will attest to the fact that they taste MUCH better in clear plastic cups! Trust me on this.
Remember, you can try any fruit combination and fruit nectar combination. I have since been able to find various nectars at our local Commissary (military grocery store) and our local Kroger store, and all of the ones we have tried have been delicious!
