Two years ago I bore my 5th child, my third little girl, my precious Emily. Happy Birthday Little One.
I decided to make her wreath this year instead of having one made.
I purchased a large grapevine wreath, a long garland of red roses, a bunch of blue filler and a bunch of white daisies (the flower we used for her casket spray). I bought red, white, and blue ribbon and then also pink satin ribbon and a white ribbon that says “Tiny Fingers, Tiny Toes”.
Here’s the finished product (although, I think I could rework it a million times and still not feel it was 100% perfect).
And the “birthday” bow inside the 4th of July ribbon.
I want to share with you a song that was on a lullaby CD we were given while we were in the hospital during Emily’s surgeries. I have a very hard time listening to it, but my girls love to play this CD, so I have learned to take deep breaths to hold back the sobs…
Welcome Home
Words and music by Marcia Minton, Steve Millikan, and Sharon Gentry
O little traveler, seems we’ve waited for so long,
O little traveler, come and rest here in my arms,
So much of life ahead, we will keep you safe and warm;
O little traveler, welcome home.
You’re on a journey, only God knows where you’ll go;
He’ll weave the tapestry and with our help He’ll sew
The story He has planned so very long ago;
O little traveler, welcome home.
Welcome home, welcome home, my child, where you belong;
And wherever you go all along life’s road,
May you know that you’re never alone;
Precious child, welcome home.
These cherished moments will hold tight when you have grown,
Teach you to find your wings, for soon you will have flown;
We’ll love with open arms, hoping you will always know
We’ll be here waiting, welcome home.
(repeat chorus)
We all are travelers, each with a race to run;
We’ll stay together, but when all is said and done
We pray the way we live will lead you to the One
Who can truly say, “Welcome home. Precious child, welcome home.”

((((Amy)))) I sit here with tears streaming down my cheeks as I watch the video of your precious baby girl. Though the anniversary of losing my son born still was yesterday, I can not imagine what heart break it is to lose a child you’ve held, nursed & nurtured aleady. You are always in my prayers & will stay there. Thank you for sharing your precious child with us. I know Emmy has touched the lives & hearts of many!
The wreath you made is beautiful!

Amy, Ty and Family –
Thinking of you today as you rememeber Emily’s birthday. Cale always believed (until this year) that the fireworks were in honor of his birthday. Now, we think of Emily when those fireworks shoot off and remember how you watched them from your hospital room the night she was born. The wreath is beautiful, and perfect because it was crafted by your loving hands. Hugs to you all,
Kristi and family

Emmy has touch so many lives, even those who never had the chance to meet her here on this earth.

Happy Birthday Emily! Amy, I GET it now! Sorry, when you were here the other day, I didn’t remember that Emily’s birthday was the 4th. I can barely remember my own children’s birthdays (don’t tell them I said that – hee hee)…
Well, I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and that your memories of your sweet baby will make you smile instead of cry.
Your wreath is cheerful and happy colors – just perfect.
Love,
Lynnette

I went to North American Christian Convention this past week and it was there that The Old Schoolhouse Mag was handing out older issues. I read your article about the Myth of Me Time. It blessed me so much!
I looked at the picture and outloud said “NO” when it stated that your baby had died at 7 months. I went home and searched for your blog to see why… I have been here before. I have commented, I believe. I remember seeing the video. I weep for you. I will pray for you now…Happy birthday Emily…
May God provide for all of your mental, emotional and physical needs as you continue to heal. Thank you for sharing your story. You are a blessing to me and I am sure to many others!
