Homeschooling is a naturally messy occupation with its books and papers, art mediums and science projects. Even if you have a dedicated Homeschool Room, homeschooling tends to take place all over the house—as well it should. Homeschooling truly is a way of life, and should reach the very corners of our homes, but that reach is a messy one, and we may find ourselves overwhelmed by the chaos that seemingly appeared overnight.
And it’s the management of this homeschooling mess no one prepares us for. No cleaning routine or book addresses the homeschooling mom’s plight. They speak to the public school mom whose children bring home papers that need to be organized, but they do not speak to the mom who lives with the papers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for years on end. And she doesn’t just live with papers, she lives with all the educational paraphernalia that help her do her job.
You see, we are not just homemakers, we are teachers. We don’t just feed our families breakfast and dinner, we feed them 3 meals and snacks. We don’t just meal plan, we lesson plan. We don’t just have a chore schedule, we have a school schedule. Our domain expands from the coziness of home to the halls of educational excellence.
And most homeschool moms struggle to juggle it all.
Some homeschool moms throw fits over the chaos. Some throw their hands up and surrender to it. Most waffle somewhere in between, wondering if a well-managed home and a well-managed school can ever coexist. They are drowning in the big things, and totally missing the little things.
Because of this, I wanted to put together a resource that was just for homeschool moms. I wanted to share all the things I’ve learned over the past 14 years of homeschooling and managing a home. I wanted to share the systems we’ve put in place, and the things I have learned to let go of so that I can truly simplify my life in order to fully enjoy my homeschooling journey and the family God has given me.
HERE IT IS!
Finally, a book on home management just for the homeschool mom!
