The next couple of weeks I’m going to be scarce here on Raising Arrows as I am neck-deep in holiday preparations. We have a string of company coming starting today, and ending after the New Year! I’m baking and planning and cleaning along with the kiddos, which makes it so much nicer than doing everything on my own. It’s wonderful having children old enough to join your in the preparations!
I thought it might be fun to share a few of our Christmas treats and plans with all of you…

For our breakfasts, we’ll be having Swedish Tea Ring and this slow cooker casserole, and a bread pudding made from Panettone bread (ALDI has this bread on special buy right now, otherwise, it is super expensive!). Some mornings, we will just have cereal or yogurt. It all depends on how busy the day is (and how calorie-dense the day is!).
Our Christmas dinners will be ham, or this bacon-wrapped pork loin, or Creamed Pheasant (I plan to have this recipe ready to share with all of you soon because it’s a favorite here!).
Some of the sweet treats we’ll be making are Candy Cane Cookies, Buckeyes (made into bars), Thumbprint Cookies, Fudge, Hot Punch, Rocky Road Bars, and Peanut Brittle.

The Hot Punch and Fudge is a must for Christmas around here because it reminds me of Christmas Eve when I was little. We would attend our church’s Christmas Eve Service with our extended family, and then come back home to celebrate with a meal, hot punch, fudge, and presents. *happy sigh*
You can get a copy of our family Christmas Eve Candlelight Service based on the one from my childhood simply by signing up as a FREE subscriber to Raising Arrows. Enter your email address below, and you’ll get a link in your inbox, along with lots of other goodies!
We will also be traveling around town to see the Christmas lights, watching classic Christmas movies, singing carols and hymns, and spending time sitting by the fire doing our Advent readings as a family. So, if you don’t see much of me, you’ll know what I’ve been up to, and hopefully, you are also enjoying the blessings of the season and the joy of our coming Savior!

How do you make your Buckeyes into bars? That sounds interesting.

Eventually, I’ll post a recipe, but it is basically the peanut butter part of the buckeye spread into a pan and the chocolate spread over that and then cut into bars. MUCH easier!

I just may try that crockpot breakfast casserole for Christmas morning. Thanks for sharing…. and Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!

How do you make the buckeyes into bars? I’d love an easier version. Buckeyes are our favorite!
