This is very similar to how we vacation. We tend to try to drive as much as possible on the way to our destination, then take an extra day or two to get home, stopping at a museum, cave tour, Civil War battlefield, etc. (In addition to finding these places AT our vacation destination. That’s what vacation is for, right?!) We have found that sometimes an Air B&B can be cheaper, even for just a one or two night stay, than a hotel, especially with a large family. I don’t like to be dishonest, but sometimes the hotel room capacity limits are silly, especially with lots of littles who all want to pile onto one bed anyway!

I have a hard time finding AirB&Bs that don’t add money for every single child! If you have a trick I don’t know, I’d love to hear it!

Hmm, I have not encountered that! I once had a crazy high cleaning fee added unexpectedly added, but now the Air BnB website has an option to always see the complete total cost when searching properties, which is nice. For some of our shorter stays I have been able to find a house for cheaper than or very similar to a hotel cost.

I am definitely going to give it a try again!
