We were not able to make the trip to our usual pumpkin patch, so this year we opted for one close to home that was just getting started. We took a hayrack ride and picked pumpkins and popcorn (that was a new one for us!). It was a wonderful end to a lovely day as a family.
I know I haven’t had a lot to say lately. I’m just soaking everything in these days. There is so much to do while the weather is nice enough to be outside in God’s beautiful Autumn creation! Here are a few of the things we’ll be rounding out October with…

Reading The Pumpkin Patch Parable. This is a such a lovely story!
Cooking some of the pumpkins we picked. (link to how we’ll be doing it here)
Preparing for our Thanksgiving Potluck at church. This year I am planning to bring:
Crock pot turkey breast
Rolls made from my All Whole Wheat Bread recipe – baking today to put in the freezer
Cranberry Salad
Sweet Potato Casserole – baking today to put in the freezer
Apple Cake – this is already in the freezer
By the way, I cleaned out the freezers and refrigerators and pantry to make room for the holiday baking. It’s my 12 Week Holiday Planner that is keeping me on track! This is one of the Holiday Baking Weeks.
There is also a lot of hunting going on here. Thankfully, the boys clean the birds!
I can hardly believe it is almost time to say goodbye to October 2013. Enjoy these last few days before we head into the Thanksgiving season full force!

Hi Amy, it looks like you had a great time at the pumpkin patch. I’m a new reader and over the past week have been devouring all your posts. Thank you for being such an inspiration. I have been trying to find a good sweet potato casserole recipe, have you put yours on the blog? Also I commented on your cheeseburger soup recipe last week, thank you so much for answering my cheese question, I appreciate it. 🙂 Have a blessed day with your beautiful family!
