I never thought of myself having sensory issues in that past (except for my former avoidance of “mysterious white substances” a.k.a. condiments). But as my children become older/louder/more numerous, I find that my level of noise tolerance quickly maxes out. It’s been a hot summer (110) where I live, and I’ve noticed that the humidity does something to make my ears more sensitive as well.
With your 4 o’clock movie time, does that happen every day? How do the younger ones respond if you skip it? It seems like the more screen time I give my kids, the more they ask for (ages 5-8). The incessant nagging grates on my ears even worse.

It is every weekday. Complaining tends to net you a stay in your bedroom while the others get movie time. I do notice I feel better when the heat abates.
