Thanksgiving week, I love to take a break from our regular school work, and do a few fun Thanksgiving activities that point the children toward the meaning of Thanksgiving and why we celebrate. This Pilgrim Walk is something we started several years ago, after adapting a version we found on the blog No Time for Flashcards. As I was preparing this year’s walk, I decided it would be a good time to share how we do our Thanksgiving Pilgrim Walk so all of you can join in too!

The pdf download includes instructions on how we set up our walk. You don’t need any special supplies – just a printer and paper! (You could even hand write the sections of the walk if you wanted and skip the printer!)
I put each section of the walk in a different place in (and outside!) our house, so the children have to “hunt” for the next story and question. However, where I put the sections are strategic as well. The harvest section is taped to the pantry door. The Mayflower Compact section is at the dining room table. You get the idea. I’ve included all the places we put our walk in the instructions in case you need a little help with that!

I hope all of you have a blessed (and de-stressed!) week, and don’t forget to pick up your FREE Thanksgiving Worship Guide to share with your family this week!

We tried this this year, on Thanksgiving Day, and it was a great success! We did the entire scavenger hunt outside , as the weather was quite pleasant, being sunny and 40 degrees. My husband builds canoes, so we used a couple of canoes to represent the Speedwell and Mayflower, which was quite fun for the kids! Thanks for sharing it with us!
