Labor Day Weekend has always been my unofficial start to Autumn and all the wonderfulness of crisp air, colorful leaves, and comfort foods. I begin decorating for Fall Labor Day Weekend and my entire family starts anticipating all the things we do as the weather cools.
While some families love Summer and all it has to offer, our family is much more the Autumn type, as evidenced by all the Autumn posts you will find here. So, even though today is blistering hot in my neck of the woods, the weatherman tells me Autumn is on the horizon and you can guarantee Raising Arrows will have plenty of Autumn goodness to celebrate!
So, what season is your favorite? Are you an Autumn family? What special things do you do as the weather cools?

Now just waiting for pumpkin spice creamer to show up in the store! Mmmm. Sadly, my husband makes me wait until Thanksgiving to make my yummy pumpkin bread. I do so love fall! I just wish it felt more like fall here.

While fall is my favorite season, we are a summer family. My husband is a school teacher, so having Daddy home during the summers is like one 10 week-long party! We drink lemonade almost every day, go on a vacation, have new adventures, and just spend LOTS of extra time together.
But I absolutely love fall – the scents, the crisp air, the baking, the coziness. I’m looking forward to doing lots of baking and sipping on apple cider and doing cozy things with my kiddos.

That makes perfect sense! 🙂

It just turned spring here- YAY SPRING!! I love spring, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE it… can you tell I’m excited? I am an avid (albeit fairly beginner) gardener and so when spring comes, it signals the start of the growing season and the sunshine entices me outside when we’ve been stuck inside (with 4 kids aged 5 and under) most of the time for the last few months.
We mark this change of season with picnic lunches outside in the backyard, trips to the big green area (complete with trees etc) down the street, lots and lots of gardening and frequent exclamations (from anyone old enough to speak) of “What a glorious/beautiful/lovely/gorgeous day!!!”
I am always amazed and impressed that God instituted seasons- what a beautiful way to include delightful anticipation, spice-of-life variety and ever-renewed enjoyment of the world in our lives!!

BTW, we are in Australia 🙂
And when it turns autumn here we usually find some lovely leaves and make a collage, take a photo of our awesome orange/red/yellow tree in the backyard (the only big tree we have and it is gorgeous in autumn!!) and enjoy hot chocolates (hot cocoa?) for the first time in months. In my family growing up, the tradition was to head down to the local park in our best clothes, frolic in the leaves and have fun and formal family photos in the leaves 🙂

Spring is definitely a second runner up. 😉
