The photo above is blurry because there were lots of little hands trying to feel baby kick. My children spend a good amount of the day hugging and touching my belly. It’s pretty cute and for the most part I’m okay with it (although I am not okay with complete strangers wanting to touch my belly…sorry folks!)
I do enjoy having a baby belly. In fact, I’ve been known to miss having a place to set my plate or tuck my napkin when I eat.
I pulled out all my long-sleeved maternity clothes this week and got them washed up. We had some cooler days where I was able to put them on and all I can say is AHHHHHH! I do so love long-sleeved weather…even when it is maternity wear.
I’m being a good girl about wearing my brace too! I’m trying to remember to wear it especially when I have a big shopping trip or when we do something as a family that requires a lot of walking. It really does help my hips! In fact, for a point of reference, we spent 5 hours at the zoo this past week and while my feet most definitely hurt, I was in much better shape physically at the end of the day compared to what I’ve been when I don’t wear my brace.
So, while I don’t really enjoy all the comments about how I must be ready to pop any moment, I do really enjoy the 2nd trimester baby belly as much as my children do!

I’m not one to leave comments but I thought this might make you laugh. While I was reading this my son sees your picture and says, “Mommy does she have a baby in there or is she just like you?” After having seven boys in less then six years, I look like I’m about 20 weeks pregnant when I’m not!

Hi Amy,
I just read your tribute to your little, precious Emily. I have a precious 19 year old daughter named Emily. I sobbed as I watched the slide show and read the captions. I’m still crying as I write this. I’m so sad for what you and your family had to suffer through. 🙁 🙁 🙁 I am also so happy that God is blessing you with another miracle. This really touched me and you will be on my mind all day. My heart is with you and I pray for you much happiness and blessings to come your way. 🙂

Thank you so much. This will be our 3rd child since Emily went to be with the Lord…seems so unreal to me that she could possibly have been gone that long. 🙁

Awesome. <3
So looking forward to the baby belly instead of just the "yes, I'm fat" belly lol.

I love your baby belly. Mine is only a 13 week belly so I still just look like I am fat. I can’t wait to have that belly and feel the baby move. Have loved following you this pregnancy. I too found out way early this time. Makes it seem a little longer but then when the baby arrives i will be oh so ready to hold it.

Thank you so much for the brace recommendation! After months of hard labor 100 degree heat, digging potatoes in my second trimester, thoughtlessly bending over like I’m un-pregnant I found myself quite injured with space between my stomach muscles about 3 weeks ago. I was terribly uncomfortable and debilitated compared to my previous activity level. I remembered reading on your blog about your diastasis and thought maybe, after already spending too much time on Amazon.com reading reviews of my various brace options, you might have one to recommend. I read your recommendation, bought one and then was able to work for my husband and his business partner for 2 days on my feet nearly non stop bending over a table doing recipe videos. I was miserably exhausted by the end BUT I took off the brace just to be able to have some air and soon realized I couldn’t work without it. It was literally a night and day difference. Amazing. Thanks!

Yippeee!!!!! (and I totally agree about the difference it makes…makes me wonder why I ever try to do anything without it! 😉 )
