The last few pregnancies my doctors have decided I must know what I’m doing and they typically don’t have me come as often. So, with it being 6 weeks between appointments and the long-standing precedent of this being the time frame when I gain the most, I was a little worried about the scale at the doctor’s office this past week.
It wasn’t nearly as bad as I suspected it would be, though! With my first, I had gained 11 pounds in 4 weeks during this time period and my doctor about had a conniption. But my current OB is a gem! She’s very laid back and even discussed with us what we should do if I can’t make it to the hospital (we barely made it last time) and how she had complete faith in us and our ability to be okay if that happened.
So, how much did I gain? 9 pounds. But, this is where things begin to slow (that is, as long as the holidays don’t get the better of me! 😉 )

A few pregnancy facts from this week…
*Baby has learned how to wiggle into just the wrong spots and suddenly make me feel like I’m carrying a bowling ball in my belly. It happened at WalMart the other day. It was all I could do to get out of there without waddling.
*Cooking meals seems to be the worst trigger for my hips locking up. I have to take a lot of breaks if I’m going to accomplish much in the kitchen. Because of this, my 14 year old son has taken over breakfast and my almost 12 year old daughter has taken over much of lunch prep. Everyone pitches in with dinner.
*I did the great clothes switch out with very little effort. I took it in bite sized pieces and I’m almost finished without taxing myself too much. Woo Hoo!
*I’m starting to think through and prepare freezer meals for when baby arrives. I use my Holiday Planner to plan when I’ll make certain recipes to freeze (she has some good recipes in there to start with, but I also have notes from all the years I’ve been using it). I like to have my mom come up and help too. So far, all I have put away are some breakfast sandwiches, but it’s still early. 😉
*I lanolized my new wool covers from Sweet Little Blessings. I’m test driving the large ones on my 2 year old in the hopes that this is the miracle overnight cloth diaper I’ve been dreaming of. I’ll keep you posted!

Yay for 25 weeks! I’m so glad things are going mostly well 🙂 It does kind of stink that our pregnancies are over Christmas, haha… but at least we can blame the weight gain on baby instead of sweets, right?! 😉

I just hit 27 weeks, and am in the same boat with my midwife. It’s been about 6 weeks since I saw her and I only have a 10lb weight gain the WHOLE pregnancy! I haven’t done the clothes switch out yet, but desperately need to…

LOL! I can see it plainly on my Kindle, but couldn’t see it on my pc. There was no box there. I kept scanning for a box and there wasn’t one. I wonder if Chrome thinks it’s an ad. That’s really embarrassing! It’s right there!
Going to search for the recipe I wanted now. . .

I love the holiday planner! I’ve used it for years.
As for weight-shmeight, proud of you for just letting your body (and God) do what it needs to do. I can really relate to it all (I always had strangers insist I was having twins, lol). Praying many blessings upon your delivery!!

Well, maybe the doctor needs to see what you had to endure with those “modern” amenities on your vacation! Ha! Stress can cause weight gain, ya know. Wink 🙂 And some of us have gained weight in the last couple of months and we aren’t even growing a baby. Ugh!

glad it’s going well! i’m a few days behind you…the last 2 months is when i gain alot….with my last baby, i had to assure the midwife i did NOT eat 15 extra pounds worth of junk in 3 weeks…it was fluid retention!

I love this, I can definitely relate! I am 13 weeks with HG and accomplishing this was my only task for the last two weeks. Bite size pieces was essential! I can’t believe it’s done.
I just wanted to comment about your not making it to the hospital– have you and DH researched homebirthing? I would have said anyone who homebirthed was crazy 5 years ago, but when our first daughter was due, we began to read a little about it and realized that hospital births and homebirths had the same statistics for mortality rates for mom and baby— only homebirths were 2% c-section rate vs 40% at our local hospital! We found an amazing midwife with 25 years experience who delivered our first baby at home. Our second was born here in TN and the midwife lived so far away we had the baby before she got here (labor was quick)! We are making SURE that doesn’t happen with this one, the midwife is to come as soon as labor begins and hang out with her own activities. What’s funny is that, throughout history up until 150 years ago or so, midwives were the go-to for all moms, and when male doctors took over this area, the care really went downhill. Hospitals are great for an emergency, which birth is not!
Thanks for your encouraging words, yours has become one of my favorite blog stops!

I just discovered a great overnight cloth diaper with a great price. Only $7.75 a diaper. I just FB’ed about it. Here’s the link http://www.theluvyourbaby.com/one-size-goodnight-heavy-wetter/ They go a good 12 hours or so with no leaking or rashy bum. I use them on my 8 month old son. There other diapers are nice, too. Very comparable to Fuzzi Bunz, but way more affordable. I use Super Undies at night for my toddler who is potty trained, but has an occasional accident at night. They work but are pretty pricey. Just thought I’d share! 🙂

In my third pregnancy, I gained 10 lbs. and grew 6 cm (fundal height) between 20 and 24 weeks. I made them check for twins! (No, just a baby who ended up at 8 lbs. 11 oz.!)
Curious to see how things are going by now. I haven’t been since 12 weeks and I’ll be nearly 19 when I go again next week. Crazy that I’m almost halfway there…. Still doesn’t entirely feel real yet.
Fun to follow your pregnancy journey!

Just curious, How much do your babies usually weigh when they are born? I really have a theory that we all gain what we are supposed to(well i guess some people do go a little crazy with eating) lol, I’ve had a couple friends hit the 80 lb mark with 1 child, but for the most part if you try to stay healthy and eat good, you’ll be good to go 🙂 I’ve enjoyed your pregnancy posts, I still can’t believe my baby is 3 weeks now- Time goes by to quick…Thankfully we get to enjoy all the sweet moments we have with them.

My entire family has big babies. My last was nearly 2 wks overdue and 11 pounds, but typical for me is in the 10 pound range. 😉
