Pleasant way to title a post, huh?
That’s right, Thanksgiving night, I got sick, along with my 14 year old and my 8 year old. My poor husband had to take care of us all night long and well into the next day. He and my oldest daughter worked round the clock caring for the sickies and the little guys who were well and rambunctious as ever. I am so incredibly thankful he had off of work as I could not imagine what I would have done otherwise.
This isn’t the first time I’ve ended up with the stomach flu while pregnant. I will tell you, it seems that being pregnant makes it a bit harder to recover, and it is almost as if baby feels sick right along with me because this little one kept moving like crazy through it all.
All in all, I had to laugh that on Monday, I wrote a post about making sure we are truly thankful and God handed me quite a few things this week that required me to focus on that very thing. There were several disappointments, but in the end, I have my wonderful family, my awesome husband, a growing baby inside, and the blessings of a life lived for Christ.
I’m also really thankful, as my friend Sherri pointed out, that Thanksgiving was early this year, so I don’t feel quite as bad about the decorating not getting done on the usual day with the usual festivities. I just hope Ty ends up with a nice vacation from work and not one spent sick.
So, how was your Thanksgiving? I pray all of you felt much better than I did!

Oh – that was me just a week ago. Seems like I always get a stomach bug at least once per pregnancy – and it does make it so much harder to recover. Pregnant body can’t handle the lack of food, I think, and you get a double whammy of flu-sick and mad-pregnant-body-sick.
Glad you’re feeling better! Did you/are you celebrating Thanksgiving late (we did that one year) or just letting it go?

We had Thanksgiving dinner earlier in the day, but I do plan to make another one just for us later in the week.

hope you feel better! my 1 year old and I had the same thing the week before thanksgiving…we were sick for about 10 days…thankfully my husband had already taken off for vacation, though being sick wasn’t exactly what I thought we’d be doing! it’s always harder when you’re pregnant too!

Yes, I feel awful when my husband has to spend his vacation dealing with someone not so fun. 🙁

I am so sorry you and some of your kids got sick, but thankful your hubby was available to help. Have a beautiful day!

Thank you! We have another one down with it tonight, so it is definitely running its course!

I truly feel for you! Last winter I had the stomach flu once while pregnant and then again while breastfeeding! I got really dehydrated after (when I was breastfeeding) and had lots of headaches and finally drank lots of gatorade to get over it (even though I was already drinking lots of water). Will be praying for you and your family!

My husband was feeding me Pedialyte! lol

I hope everyone gets feeling well soon and that no one else in the family gets sick.
Megan says
Aw, I’m sorry you were sick, Amy. 🙁

Oh man, Amy… I had some sort of bug this last week, too… I was unable to eat for five days… it was awful! I’m just a week ahead of you (33 weeks) and it took me a long time to recover. I’m still exhausted and trying to get my energy back up. NOT FUN. I hope you are feeling completely well by now!
