For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.
Philippians 3:1b
With a long, deep inhale and a plea to the Lord to sweeten my words before they ever leave my tongue, I repeat what I have already said many times this very day to this very child who has not yet wearied of testing and trying the worn-thin patience of a worn-thin mama.
Lord, why?
Why must I teach and discipline and correct the same things over and over and over again?
His Word penetrates my mind and heart…
it is not tedious
it is safe
How many times does God have to tell me the same things over and over and over again before I finally listen and respond? His long-suffering should be my long-suffering.
It is important…
no, it is safe
to tell my children the same things over and over and over again.
I cling to this when the days are long {tedious}
and I am tired of repeating
or I am just tired.
It is not tedious, it is safe.
Weekends in the Word is a ministry of Raising Arrows meant to offer a time of worship and encouragement specifically for those mommies who find themselves, due to circumstances beyond their control, unable to attend worship services with other believers. However, all are welcome here each weekend to feast on His Word.

Thank you Amy for this….my first-born has a hard head and strong will, but a soft sweet heart. I needed this encouragement.

Thank you for this reminder! I often ask myself the same things and find myself getting frustrated when I am correcting the same behavior for the 15th or 20th time! I am so glad that God never gives up on us.

I need to chew on this awhile. Yesterday was a tedious day. We are working on first time obedience as it seems a couple of the kids have had a relapse. Maybe that is my fault? And we are also working on potty training. I need this word in my heart today as we head out the doors for homeschool pictures.

Boy did I need to read this lesson today. I have had a string of tedious days with my toddler. Thank you.

Wow Amy! I really needed to read this. And think about it. I’m going to print it out so my husband and I can remember it. 🙂

I think I have a new “sticky-note” verse. I have a lot of “tedious” days.
Amy says
This is a great sticky-note verse! 😉

My nest is empty now, but I remember the days ….. This is a really good post. May the Lord bless its message to the heart of each young mother who reads it!

Oh my. I feel I should tattoo the on my forearm so I see it whenever I look down! Thank you!
I will be chewing on this all day as well.

Thank you for sharing this today. Over, the last few days I’ve been dealing with this very issue with my son and I was becoming tedious. As I read, I was brought to tears as I knew God was speaking to me through you. He always meets me where I am with exactly what I need, when I need it. God is so good to me!

Thanks for this reminder! I do not know how many times I tell my 18 month old, “Stop pulling the cat’s tail! Be gentle!” before I start to wonder…Is he really even listening? LOL!

Thank you for this! Such an excellent encouragement/reminder!
Emily says
WOW. Talk about needing that encouragement at this very instant! Just laid my sweet 20-month old son down for a nap. Been dealing with the “I’m not going to listen to Momma, but I’ll listen to Daddy” stage recently. Thank you for this reminder! God is good.
Debra Worth @ Sweet Kisses and Dirty Dishes says
Enjoyed reading this. We are having more issues then usual with obedience if feels like. It’s nice to get encouragement from someone who has to do it over and over again with several kids, not just one.

A very timely word for me to receive!! Very true, and this was a great reminder 🙂
Suanna says
I needed that!

Love this! Thank you so much for reminding me (I guess I need reminding as well!) that I’m no better than my kids when it comes to having to be told over and over to do what is right.
I just think of those Israelites, with whom God was so patient.
So thank you!

Thank you for sharing this truth!!! Needed it!!!!

Definitely needed to read this sometimes I get frustrated and it can come through in how I react towards my littles, but I am the same as them when it comes to obeying my Father (God). Its our nature young or old we have to be told over and over right from wrong.
