I remember my first Mother’s Day as a new mama! I was so excited to claim the holiday, thanks to this beautiful little boy…
Boy, he was a chubby little man!
This will be my 18th year celebrating Mother’s Day as a mama, and I am well aware of just how blessed I am to have 14 little ones, some here with me – some gone before me – and one growing within, who are the only ones in this world who can call me Mama.

I recently received a fun box of goodies for new moms (yes, you can still be considered a “new mom” no matter what number you are on!). The products within celebrated motherhood and the little ones who gave me that claim to fame.
My daughters have been begging me for an instant camera. Seems the things of our childhood are making a comeback, eh? This Fujifilm INSTAX Mini 70 was the first thing we pulled out of the box, and my girls went crazy! My oldest daughter already has big plans to bring it to the hospital when baby is born so she can get instant and unique keepsake photos of the new baby. What a way to celebrate!
Gerber® sent us their essential Onesies® and a bib. I use Onesies® all the time. I bring them to the hospital when baby is born. In winter, these bodysuits go under my baby’s jammies to add an extra layer of warmth. They make the perfect long-sleeve or short-sleeve layer underneath a cute dress (like the one in the photo at the top of the post), and on super hot days, they are great all by themselves. Just look at that happy baby! I can hardly stand the cuteness!
We have been fans of Boudreaux’s Butt Paste for years! I was thrilled to see they have an all natural formula, but all of the formulas are free of parabens, preservatives, dyes, phthalates and talc, so I feel good about using any of them. Boudreaux’s is the fastest way we’ve found to get rid of diaper rash – something even this veteran mama is glad to say good riddance to. Keep some handy everywhere you change diapers – including Grandma’s house!
Oh, if only I had taken better care of my poor skin in my young mama days! However, that doesn’t mean I can’t get some elasticity back even now! In the box I received was Mustela®, a cream specially formulated for stretch marks. I’ll be using it during pregnancy to not only help with the stretch marks I already have, but to help fight off any new ones that may try to creep in. I also get extremely itchy my skin during pregnancy due to the stretch marks, and I definitely think this will help ward that off.
True confession time…new moms sometimes don’t get around to brushing their teeth. Eek! How many photos are we in while holding our cute little babies and sporting teeth desperately in need of some whitening? We should really take better care of our teeth! (I’m talking to myself here.) Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant Toothpaste whitens and deep cleans (so your teeth will forgive you the occasional day off).
Sesame Street Naturals sent me Tip, Tummy, & Toe 2 in 1 body wash in a pump even my toddler can handle during bathtime. I really like pump soap when it comes to squirmy little ones in the bath! They also sent B is for Bubble Bath…because every little one needs to experience a bubble bath on occasion (we use bubble baths as a special treat here). And take a look at that Chubby Cheek Balm! Little lips and cheeks are covered – no more chapping (and there’s no petroleum in there either)!
As a mother, receiving gifts for my babies feels like a party for me. I love it! I get to celebrate my little ones AND celebrate my motherhood at the same time!
How will you be celebrating Mother’s Day this weekend?
Andrea says
That is a great post, love hearing about your family and seeing the pictures! My 18th Mother’s Day as well to celebrate 9 (as you said, some still with me, some not). Oh, to receive a box of goodies in the mail, and when you are pregnant and not feeling so great!!! It made me smile, as though I got to open it myself.
Yes and yes to the teeth brushing comment. Sigh. Sometimes it does not happen with a new baby in the house. Gross, I know, but it isn’t necessary for survival, is it? Saggy skin from all the pregnancies – anything to do about that outside of a tummy tuck? Never have tried Boudreaux’s, but have always wondered…
Your post where you gently reminded us that the Bible says “Children are a blessing from the Lord” not “Children are a burden from the Lord” has stuck with me almost on a daily basis. Thank you so much for that little ditty. Have a blessed and Happy Mother’s Day!
