Thank you for mentioning the fact that sometimes a subject that comes naturally to you as the parent can be very difficult to teach to your child, for whom it does not come naturally to! That has been my experience with teaching one of my daughters to read. We are finally making headway, and seeing success, but there were literal years with a lot of frustration for both of us! We did end up switching curriculums a few times, outsourcing to Reading Eggs when both of us needed a break, and going back over the basics numerous times – but our perseverance is finally paying off! On the flip side, my second daughter, who is just starting to learn to read, is having no issues whatsoever, and has rapidly progressed to catch up with big sister. Just goes to show that all kids learn so differently. It is so fun to see when a difficult concept does finally click for them, though!
