“What should we do then?” the crowd asked.
John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”
Luke 3:10-11
Our pastor has been doing a comparative study of the gospels. Last Sunday, the verses above stuck out to me. The very next day I read how Kimberly from Raising Olives is simplifying her life and I realized the call I feel on my heart right now is to not only simplify by downsizing, but bless others in the process.
Sometimes things feel financially tight, but that does not mean I have absolutely nothing to give.
Weekends in the Word is a ministry of Raising Arrows meant to offer a time of worship and encouragement specifically for those mommies who find themselves, due to circumstances beyond their control, unable to attend worship services with other believers. However, all are welcome here each weekend to feast on His Word.

I couldn’t agree more. There are days I stare at the contents of my home and think, wow…we have entirely too much stuff. New Year’s Day of this year, hubby, son and I went through clothes and shoes and donated them to the needy. Little man donated many toys. Thank you for this reminder! We should have our eyes on Heaven, and store up treasures in Heaven! 🙂

I love how God will suddenly make something in His Word jump off the page. Good for you for being so responsive. We are getting ready for a garage sale in a couple of weeks. I need a heart to simplify and “purge” our spaces of extra things which someone else could use, and either give them away or put them in the garage sale.
I can remember the immense blessing of receiving a surprise bag of clothing handed down, when my children were younger. Oh, the fun of my daughter trying on “new” clothes that she loved and they were free!
It’s also exciting to think of more organized spaces! I have always dreamed of “a place for everything and everything in its place”–aaahhh, alas I think it’s only a dream, but I still will keep pursuing it!
Thanks for the great word of challenge. It was just what I needed!
Wendy
P.S. I’ve been praying for you!

Thank you so much, Wendy!

Beautiful. Thank you, Amy.
And it’s funny that I felt as if we were being “bad stewards” by giving things away rather than selling them (cause you know we gave away things that we could have made hundreds of dollars selling). I never even thought about this verse. Thank you!

You are welcome, Kimberly! You’ve been an inspiration! 🙂
