A friend called this past week to inquire about our rental house search and to give me this verse.
The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
Deuteronomy 31:8
Why this verse?
Because my prayer has been that no matter where we look, the Lord would go before us and soften our potential landlord’s heart toward the number of children we have.
We have excellent references, impeccable credit, no debt and a lot of children.
That last one scares people.
How often have you worried about something to come? Have you wondered what people would think or do? Does the unknown keep you up at night?
You’re not alone.
Not because I’ve been there,
but because God is already there.
Do not fear.
Do not be dismayed.
Weekends in the Word is a ministry of Raising Arrows meant to offer a time of worship and encouragement specifically for those mommies who find themselves, due to circumstances beyond their control, unable to attend worship services with other believers. However, all are welcome here each weekend to feast on His Word.

We are a military family of 7. In our many house hunts, we have been openly turned down several times because landlords were scared away because of the size of our family. I always found it funny that pets were allowed but many children were not… at least my children don’t chew on doors and poop on the floor (usually!). However, the Lord has always gone before us. Always provided. He has provided great housing for us that was more than we could have asked for and suited our needs perfectly. Praying that you and your family will be encouraged while you wait!

I would think that someone with fantastic credit, no debt, great refernces..it shouldn’t matter how many kids you have because obviously you are doing something right!
I just found your blog yesterday and I LOVE IT. I read through your “skirts” series and it totally spoke to me because I have been convicted for a few years but also in the past couple years I have been pregnant or nursing (even both at one point in time). Your (and your friends) series came at took away any problems I would encounter (AKA frumpy).
We want a large family (we have two currently, little girls) and plan on homeschooling them. What a blessing you blog is to me. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for sharing this as I’m also experiencing a time of waiting to see how the Lord will direct us. After two years of my husband not having permanent work, he received a full-time job in July in another state. Now we wait for our home to sell and for our family to be together again in the new state. It is hard to wait and not want to go ahead and make the paths ourselves instead of seeking and trusting the Lord and His perfect timing. Your verse today is a reminder to me to Fear Not and to Trust.
I have dear friends that have 11 children and they’ve been able to find a rental home after selling their home in 2 different locations as they wait for his company to decide where they should permanently be. So I’m sure that the Lord will also direct you to the place He has for you.
Thank you and God Bless.

Thanks Amy for such an inspiring and encouraging blog. I am a homeschooling mama of 5 boys from South Africa. We have been renting for nearly all our 18 years of marriage so I know how you feel. Be encouraged and know that God has a home for you!
