MONDAY
Today is Creed’s birthday and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, so Ty was off for the holiday and able to celebrate with us all day!

I ran to Walmart this morning to pick up doughnuts and Creed’s cake. Our kids get to choose their birthday menu, and Creed had chose doughnuts for breakfast and a sampler cake for his birthday cake. This was a new one for us – carrot cake, red velvet, German chocolate, and milk chocolate all put together with a few slices of each.
I decided not to do school today because it was just too busy for me to get much schooling accomplished.
Creed opened a couple of gifts this morning and then watched a favorite show before lunch. For lunch, he wanted egg sandwiches.
The kids all went outside to play in the snow and when they came in, I had hot chocolate ready for them.
Then, Ty and I went to Tractor Supply to look for a firewood holder. He brought back a load of firewood from a friend this weekend, but wanted a better way to stack it outside our back door. We managed to find a nice, big firewood holder on sale and also found several other things we needed – a broom, seed trays, and canning lids to name a few!
I also found a Chutes and Ladders game on sale for the little girls! So, when I got home, I played with them!
Ty put together the firewood rack while watching an online cattle auction. He’s thinking of expanding our VERY small herd of Herefords. He was curious how much some of them were going for from this ranch he’s been looking to buy from.
The kids carried down the firewood to its new home at the back of our house, under the deck, while I supervised the stacking. Then, I started Creed’s birthday dinner – spaghetti and meatballs, Caesar salad, and garlic toast made from scraps and heels of bread loaves I keep in the freezer for this very purpose.
Once cleaned up, Creed opened the rest of his cards and presents and played some games with his siblings.
TUESDAY
It was a slow morning after all the snow and birthday festivities. The snow is melting, but I’m sure the kids will want to go out in it today. Our entryway has become a perpetual mudroom with snow clothes strewn about!
Morning Time started with our Obedience Bible Study.
Then, we listed to a couple of Mozart’s symphonies from our Music Appreciation (Middle Ages through Classical Era) class from Music in Our Homeschool.
We also learned about Francisco Goya the artist and then, I read about the turning point of the Revolutionary War from the book From Colonies to Country.
We retired to the living room while I read from The Borrowers.
I helped the little girls with their schoolwork and then we ate lunch and the kids headed outside for a bit. Those that weren’t finished with school came back in and finished once they had had some outside time.
The 11 year old is doing the same Graphic Design class his older brother did and the 15 year old started Economics from Compass Classroom.

I also checked on the 17 year old who is reading The Universe Next Door for school.
Then, I planted some herbs in the coconut coir starter trays I purchased yesterday.

I want to start some microgreens and much beans as well, but I’ll do those in a mason jar.
I took a walk around the neighborhood and then started dinner – sloppy joes, root veggie fries, and grapes.
After Table Chores, the boys worked on some coding projects together and Lia made some Pumpkin Butter Bars using the banana squash butter I canned this fall. They were ok, but not phenomenal, so we won’t be keeping that recipe.
That evening, I decided to order the 2022 Outfit Formulas membership. I’ve used some of her products in the past, and decided I wanted to buy the year-long membership for all of the seasons and see if I can up my clothing game a bit!

WEDNESDAY
Mercy has a rheumatology appointment at noon today in the city, so this morning we have a lot to do!
I made Mercy pancakes for breakfast and gave Aspen a bath because she didn’t get hers at the same time as everyone else. Then, we got started on Morning Time!
For Morning Time, we had a really good lesson in our Obey Bible Study! We also watched a video of a man playing Benjamin Franklin’s glass armonica invention!
We learned about the final battle of the American Revolution, and then I got myself and Mercy ready for her appointment.
By the way, I wore this…

IF you are looking for a VERY comfortable denim jacket…THIS ONE is it! Most comfortable denim jacket I have every owned!
We met Mercy’s new doctor today and she is really great! The appointment went wonderfully, and she needs no intervention at this time; however, we know what we are looking for from here on out.
After the appointment, we took Mercy to our favorite Tex-Mex place and then to her favorite store – Cabela’s! She loves looking at all the animals, and her daddy is more than happy to oblige!
On the way home, Ty had to pick up some medicine balls on post at the gym for his cadets. We also picked up a library book that has been 6 months in transit! And we got gas at $2.86. Gas did go WAY over $3 the other day, but it is back down right now.
We made it home in time for dinner and then I took the big kids to Youth Group. I also washed my hair and made a list of all the things I need to do tonight and tomorrow in preparation of Blake and his fiancee’s arrival tomorrow night!
Paden (the fiancee!) made an appointment this weekend at a dress shop in the city for her mother and I to find our dresses for the wedding! I don’t really enjoy shopping, but if nothing else, I am hoping to learn what kind of dresses look best on me. It will be nice have someone to work with me on this.
In the evening hours I read in Unveiling Grace on my Hoopla account (I was unable to get this book via inter-library loan, so Hoopla was the next best option!).
I also read in the New Testament because I am focusing my Bible reading this year on reading through the New Testament with particular study in Revelation.
THURSDAY
Blake and Paden are coming to our house tonight and everyone is excited! We are going to clean the house a day early, but not until we get school out of the way since we skipped it on Monday!
Morning Time was our Bible study, followed by reading about the Articles of the Confederation and reading in The Borrowers.
After we cleaned the house, I sat down and caught up on our pastor’s sermons on Daniel. We have missed the last couple of weeks due to travel and sickness. I also read more in Unveiling Grace.
I did our laundry and checked over the house before Blake arrived. Ty fell asleep in his chair before they got there because he had been up since 4 am. Blake and I ended up talking until 1 am!
FRIDAY
After Blake and Paden left for their eye doctor appointments in the city, I organized my tea cabinet (what a mess!) and then took the big kids to work.
They ended up bringing a friend home from work with them (his parents own the business my older kids work at), and Keian fixed nachos for everyone while Ty and I headed out to meet Blake and Paden in the city for…you guessed it…that Tex-Mex restaurant we like so well! Blake doesn’t get to eat there very often anymore, and Paden has grown to like it as well. We also stopped at Cabela’s real quick since Paden had never been in one.
Cabela’s twice in one week – Ty is happy!
When we got home, the kids were watching the old Scooby Doo and had made Puppy Chow (or Muddy Buddies as some people call it). Yummy way to end the week!

Your gas prices fascinate me. ? Wish ours were lower. When is the wedding? Sounds like a jam packed week. Your Creed and my youngest, Ambrielle, almost have the same birthday, hers was the 19th. It sometimes falls on MLK day too. We took the day off and headed to to town for real Mexican food, friends of one of middle daughter’s owns an authentic Mexican restaurant and we frequent it more than we should. Have a great weekend and can’t wait to hear about your new dress.

You know, the gas prices here are funny (and fickle). We had dinner in a neighboring city and the gas prices were nearly $.30 more there! No idea why ours are lower.

We raise Hereford cattle here in TN! My husband loves to watch/attend cattle sales/auctions. Lots of times we take the whole family!
Thank you for sharing a bit of your large family life with the world. It is so encouraging to me as a homeschooling, christian mom of almost 8! God bless you! ?
