Sometimes you need a side dish that wows the socks off people, but doesn’t take much time and effort to pull off. OK, so maybe you need that ALL of the time! Well, these Creamy Sweet Green Beans are just the ticket!
I’ll be completely honest here – I don’t like beans. No beans of any size, shape, or color. They all taste weird and feel weird in my mouth (yes, I said “feel”). {Blame it on my sensory issues.} So, the very fact that I like these beans is a testament to their yumminess!
I make these for holidays and sometimes just because! I’ve included some of the quick tips I use to make this dish even faster when I don’t have a lot of time to spare. And you can definitely use frozen green beans in the place of cans. Enjoy!
- 1/2 onion, chopped (or 2 TBSP minced onion)
- 3 TBSP butter, divided
- 4 cans green beans, drained (I prefer french style)
- 6 strips cooked bacon (or 2 TBSP real bacon bits)
- salt & pepper
- 5 TBSP sugar
- 3 tsp vinegar
- 3/4 c mayonnaise
- In a medium saucepan, melt 1 Tablespoon butter and saute’ onion on medium heat.
- Reduce heat, add green beans, bacon, salt, pepper, and 2 Tablespoons of butter and heat until warm and butter is melted.
- Add the vinegar, sugar, and mayonnaise and stir and heat until hot and sugar is dissolved. Serve immediately.
